    Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman was born on 22 April 1997 in Surulere, a residential area of Lagos. After the passing of his mother at a young age, he was brought up by his father and his grandmother. His father was a lecturer at Lagos State University, where he gained admission to study History and International Relations. He enrolled for two years before he dropped off to chase his musical career.

    Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman (born April 22, 1997) is a  Nigerian singer who has managed to fuse Afrofusion and Afrobeats sounds to succeed in the industry. Ikuforiji is known professionally as Oxlade.

    The music star rose to the international limelight after recording and releasing Away, which appeared on Rolling Stone’s Best 50 Songs of 2020. Oxlade, who was nominated for the Next Rated Artiste award at The Headies in 2020, has released two successful EPs – Eclipse and Oxygene.

    The singer is currently being signed to Troniq Music and managed by The Plug.

    Oxlade’s Early Life


    Oxlade hails from the Yoruba tribe, and he was born and raised in the South West region of Nigeria. He comes from a Muslim household, as he was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Abdulrahman. He spent his childhood living in his parent’s house before the death of his mother, he was raised by his grandmother and father.

    His father is an academic who lectures at Lagos State University. The singer spent his formative years living in Surulere, in the Mainland area of Lagos.

    Oxlade Education


    Oxlade‘s background gave him access to quality education. He attended top private schools for his primary and secondary school education.

    He completed high school in 2013, having scored good grades in his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

    He got admission to  Lagos State University to study History and International Relations. He attended the institution for two years before he dropped out to pursue his music career.

    Oxlade got his big popularity as a musician after being featured on the track titled ‘Mamiwota’ by Blaqbonez, which became a successful single. He was noticed by A&R and music executive Bizzle Osikoya.

    Bizzle Osikoya is the co-founder of The Plug Entertainment. He decided to sign a management deal with The Plug and a record deal with Troniq Music.

    Oxlade showed the music industry the release of his single, Questionnaire, which was a jam across the country. Therefore, the success of Questionnaire is minimal when compared to Away, the single which took up Oxlade’s music career to international prominence.
