He is popularly known for the Mark Angel Comedy series of shots on social media, often featuring child comedians such as his cousin, Emmanuella, and his niece, Aunty Success Madubuike. His YouTube channel 2017 became the first African comedy channel to hit one million subscribers.

    Mark Angel Early Life

    Mark Angel was born in the city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria. However, he originates from the Igbo tribe of Orlu, Imo State. He was born on the 27th of May in 1991.

    He grew up in an average family with his two siblings: Aunty Success and one other. Mark Angel always had a dream of becoming a doctor.

    Mark Angel began his journey to his career by learning photography. He next moved to India to gain some experience in cinematography and theatre. Following his return, he failed to find decent-paying jobs in the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood). Hence, he decided to go independent and eventually started his production.

    Mark Angel‘s first well-known short is “Oga Landlord,” where a man who is owing rent, came to collect his rent (Mark Angel) is trying to hide from his landlord (Daddy Humble), and tries in vain to have a child (Emmanuella) cover for him (e.g. “My uncle is not around. He just told me.”).
