Travellers stranded, as NAHCO embarks on strike in Lagos

    Published By:

International travelers were left stuck at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCo Plc) workers suspended operations on Monday.

The employee claimed that until their salary issues were resolved, they would not start work.

While Virgin Atlantic, which is on the ground, is offloading with their crew and the cargo is still on the plane due to NAHCO staff not showing up for work, the passenger flights of Royal Air Maroc and Qatar Airlines have been diverted.

Wakadaily gathered that as of 8:30 am, stranded passengers that travelled with Virgin Atlantic were pleading with the workers’ union to rescind their action while looking for an amicable resolution.

According to the General Sales Agent (GSA), Virgin Atlantic Airways, John Adebanjo, the situation had left our passengers in a panic situation.

“We are optimistic that the situation will be resolved and passengers allowed to board for their 10:00 am flight.”

Meanwhile, Air Peace, in an update by the management on Monday, said due to the industrial strike being embarked on by all staff of NAHCO, “flights across our network will be disrupted today. The strike has affected the operations of all airlines being handled by the company.

The update added that “While we monitor the situation and hope things return to normal soon, we regret the impact of the disruptions on your travel plans and plead for your understanding.”
