‘2024 will be a tough year for Afrobeat’ Paulo Okoye expresses concern about the danger faced by Nigerian musicians

Iyabo Ojo’s partner, Paulo Okoye, who is a talent manager and actor, has expressed concern about the future of Afrobeat stars.

Paulo recently shared on his Instagram story that tough times are ahead for artists in the Afrobeat genre due to the expensive ticket prices.

He specifically stated that only Davido and Burna Boy have been successful in hosting concerts this year. Paulo also cautioned against following the path of reggae musicians who have faded away over time.

“Tough time for Afrobeat (A & B & C class) Artist Price themselves out of the market. No much shows + global economy is not laughing as well. God help us.

“2024 will be tough year for Afrobeat!!! Apart from 2 artists this year (Burnaboy and Davido) They did few shows others are in trouble either they over priced or tickets are not selling hmmm. Let us not do what happened to Reggae musicians reduce your prices just think. How many shows you did this year.” Paulo.

In November 2023, Paulo Okoye raised a significant concern regarding the decreasing number of concerts worldwide.

Through his Instagram account, the father of two expressed his distress over the impact of the economy on the music industry.

He observed that concerts are dwindling on a global scale, while music streaming is thriving, and Nigerian artists are demanding excessive fees for performances.

He pondered whether, given the declining concert trend, artists in Nigeria would also lower their prices.
