Esther Igbekele early life and Education
Esther was born and bought up in Orile Iganmu, Lagos, Nigeria into the family of Pastor and Mrs. Isaac Oluwafemi Igbekele. She grew up with four siblings and was deeply influenced by her father, who was a choirmaster and a tailor, and her mother, a food seller.
Esther Igbekele’s education began at Central Primary School in Orile Iganmu, where she took her first formal steps in learning. Her academic journey continued at Lagos African Church Grammar School, a period during which her musical talents began to surface.
Her attention caught Apostle J.A Bankole during a crusade, who was moved by her potential and decided to sponsor her education.

Esther Igbekele’s musical voyage began in 1996, without any formal training in music, but with a heart full of melodies and a voice ready to praise. Esther’s early exposure to music through her father’s role as a choirmaster and her own involvement in the church choir laid the groundwork for her future.
She first joined the band owned by Apostle Bankole, called Ilu Ayo Gospel Singers, where she honed her skills in music composition and performance. Her time with various gospel bands, including Ayewa International Gospel Singers and Imole Ayo Gospel Singers, further enriched her experience and prepared her for a solo career.
