Gunmen kidnap Accord Rivers Assembly candidate

Less than five days to gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, gunmen reportedly kidnapped the Accord Party Assembly candidate, Chukwudi Ogbonna for the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Constituency 2 in the Rivers State.

Ori of Orashi, as he is fondly called was kidnapped along the Psychiatric Road, Port Harcourt on Monday night while on his way to the GRA for a meeting.

Ogbonna’s brother, Ifeaka Nwakiri who confirmed the incident on Tuesday said his brother had complained that some persons were on his trail before the incident.

Nwakiri said, “They used his vehicle to whisk him away to an unknown place. We heard this morning that they contacted his wife and told her that he was okay. They did not demand any ransom, we have reported the matter at the Kala Police station.”

Wakadaily gathered that Chukwudi Ogbonna came out publicly to deny claims that he collected money to withdraw from the race few days before the. incident.
