American actress Jada Smith has left many shocked as she reveals she and her husband Will Smith has been separated for 7 years.

She made this known in a clip from her upcoming primetime special episode on NBC News with Hoda.

She stated that they had not gone public with their separation at the time because they were not ready yet and also clarified that although they have been separated since 2016 they are not divorced.

Jada Smith while speaking to Ktob, noted that the reason why they had kept their separation on the low was because they were still trying to figure out what their relationship dynamic is and how best to go about their partnership.

She said, “We were still trying to figure out between the two of us, how to be in partnership, How do we present that to people? We hadn’t figured that out.”

Speaking on their impending divorce, Jada stated that they couldn’t go through with it because of the promise they made to each other never to get a divorce no matter what happens.

“Why it fractured, that’s a lot of things, I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be. I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce, We will work through whatever, and I just haven’t been able to break that promise”.

They couple were blessed with two kids from the union Jaden Smith which is 25 years old and Willow Smith 22 years old.
