Popular Nollywood actress Stephanie Linus has been appointed as Oscars chairperson for the Nigeria Official Selection committee (NOSC).
The beautiful actress and mother of two was made the chairperson for the committee responsible for picking best international features films category in the prestigious Academy Awards, popularly known as Oscar.
This announcement was made known by NOSC, few hours after it’s founder, Chineze Anyaene-Abonyi officially stepped down as the chairperson.
It is reported that Anyaene-Abonyi’s resignation came after she secured the Oscars’ re-approval of the NOSC in preparation for the 96th edition of the Academy Awards which will be held in 2024.
The development has been followed immediately with the approval to form a 14-member team by the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, AMPAS, after the previous chairperson’s exit.
Members of the reconstructed team include, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Dr. Chidia Maduekwe; veteran Nollywood actress, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde; the President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Dr. Victor Okhai; former President of DGN, Mr. Andy Amenechi; theater practitioner, Yibo Koko, writer/director, Izu Ojukwu, among others.
This is a big one for the actress who has been off the internet and any form of news for a while now.
The actress who is married to the son of the late archbishop Benson Idahosa is blessed with two beautiful kids, and took a break from the movie scene after she got married.
She took to her Instagram page to announce her appointment, appreciating the body for honoring her by choosing her to head the committee and look forward to working with the committee members to promote Africa filmmakers on a global platforms.
