Rita Edochie was born on April 16, 1968, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Okwuduli. She has two siblings, a brother, Augustine Okwudili, and a sister, Nnoyelum Okwudili Odogwu, who passed away in 2015.

She is from the Igbo tribe and precisely from Anambra State, the South-east part of Nigeria.

She had both her primary and secondary education in Anambra State before proceeding to a higher institution.
