The mugshot of Bobrisky, a well-known crossdresser named Idris Okuneye, has caused a frenzy on the internet.
According to wakadaily the crossdresser was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on April 3, 2024, at 3 pm in Pinnock Estate, Lagos State.
A spokesperson for the commission, known as Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest and provided exclusive information to Linda Ikeji Blog. He stated that the reason for the arrest of the crossdresser was currency mutilation and the misuse of the Naira. Oyewale revealed that the internet sensation is currently being held in their facility in Lagos and will be taken to court for prosecution in the near future.
The commission has now made public his photograph, along with a statement providing further details about his arrest. The EFCC, in an official Instagram post, disclosed that Bobrisky has been apprehended following the circulation of a video online where he was seen spraying and showing off bundles of new Naira notes at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s movie, Ajanaku.
Further investigation uncovered that he had also carried out the accused wrongdoing at various recent venues and events at different occasions.
The EFCC stated that Bobrisky willingly presented himself for questioning at the Lagos Zonal Command on the morning of Wednesday, April 4th and provided his statements.
“EFCC Grills Bobrisky for Naira Abuse
Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying Naira notes.”
EFCC had summoned the 31-year-old after a video of him surfaced flaunting bundles of Naira notes during the premiere of a movie called Ajakaju. The movie was produced by Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress and producer, and the event took place at Film One Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.
Further investigation uncovered that he had also carried out the suspected wrongdoing at various other venues and gatherings on separate occasions.
Bobrisky responded to the Commission’s invitation and went to the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Wednesday morning ,April 4, 2024, for interrogation.
“He will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations”.

This development came two days after a police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, explained the reasons why individuals like Bobrisky, James Brown, and others cannot be detained. saying the situation is quite complicated because cross-dressing is not yet a crime in Nigeria.
He noted that although there may be rumors associating cross-dressers with the LGBTQ community, without concrete evidence to back it up. He further said, if such rumors were to be taken to court, the person making the claim would eventually lose the case.
