43 suspects arrested in Lagos state police raid

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested 43 people after conducting an overnight search of popular locations in Oshodi and its surroundings.

Information was obtained indicating that a semi-automatic handgun was found during another raid on Tuesday, April 10, 2024, following the suspects’ sweep around the city.

The raid was conducted in Anthony, Bolade Oshodi, and Oshodi Terminus, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the state police command.

According to him, the raid was a response to reliable information regarding the whereabouts of unwanted individuals in those regions.

“When the commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, deployed a team from the squad to verify information received from members of the public, a pistol was recovered in Opebi, Ikeja,” stated Hundeyin.

During discreet operation, two 9mm calibres and one expended ammunition were also found.

He, however, stated, “The 43 suspects are those found culpable after a thorough screening of all arrested suspects from the squad to verify information received from members of the public. Also recovered during the discreet operation were two 9mm calibre and one expended ammunition.”

The police image maker added, “The 43 suspects are those found culpable after a thorough screening of all arrested suspects by the commander of RRS. They are to be charged to court immediately.”
