Abuja-Kaduna train resumes operations

Operation at the Abuja-Kaduna train station has finally been restored today (Monday), after being suspended for eight months as a result of terrorist attacks on the rail line.

Wakadaily reported that, the Abuja-Kaduna bound AK9 train was attacked by terrorists on March 28, 2022, abducting 168 passengers and killing eight others. The victims were released batch by batch, the last 23 was freed after 8 months (October).Therefore, the train was closed down.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered immediate deployment of armed officials drawn from the Police Mobile Force K-9, Force Intelligence Bureau, Explosive Ordnance Unit and the Railway Police Command for the commencement of railway services along Abuja-Kaduna rail lines from Monday, December 5, 2022.

The force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement on Sunday night.
Adejobi noted that “Baba assured the general public, especially intending passengers, of adequate protection of lives and property, adding that all hands are on deck to fortify the railway services along the route and other rail lines across the country.”
