Netizens knocks Sanwo-Olu’s wife for describing Lagos doctor’s death as ‘arrow fired’

Netizens have slammed the Lagos State First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for attributing the death of Dr. Vwaere Diaso in a faulty elevator at the General hospital as an “arrow fired into the health family.”

Wakadaily reported that doctor Vwaere Diaso was in the elevator on her way to get her meal from a dispatch rider when the elevator fell from the 10th floor of the building on Tuesday, August 1.

The deceased, who had weeks to complete her housemanship program fell to her death in an elevator at the General hospital in Odan, Lagos state.

Her colleagues and friends besieged the premises of the building to protest.

They were seen marching outside the hospital building with placards that carry messages such as, “It could have been me and “The system is rigged against young doctors,” while they chanted: “All we are saying, give us justice.”

The Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, and Secretary, Ismail Ajibowo, directed all doctors working in the three government hospitals on Lagos Island to begin an indefinite strike.

Reacting to this, the wife of governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu while addressing the protesters linked the incident to the helicopter accident that happened in the state same day.

Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu in a viral video said: “An arrow has been fired into the health family. The first of August is a day I will never forget. The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”.

Her speak however, didn’t go down well with many people particularly on Twitter as they knocked the Lagos first lady for making sure statement.

@DieuEmeka blamed the death of Dr. Diaso on the failure of government.

He wrote, “The how is simple nah. The government which her husband heads failed to maintain the lift. There was no arrow. It was simply a result of corruption and irresponsibility on the part of the government. That is what, why, and how. ”

His tweet was also re-echoed by another tweep, @deesick, who said, “How? Negligence, nonchalance, carelessness. That’s how.”

Another user@ceemancy tweet, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible time….Murphy’s law. That’s why maintenance is very important”
