Soyinka’s sister, Tinuola Aina dies at 90, funeral rites begin Thursday

Nigerian playwright and novelist, Prof. Wole Soyinka, lost his older sister, Tinuola Aina at the age of 90.

Her death was announced by her family in a statement released on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Aina reportedly passed away on 7 of November 2023.

The family indicated that a service of songs will kick off the funeral rites on Thursday, in Lagos.

The two-day programme would end on Friday, December 8, culminating a private interment.

Tinuola Aina was born on April 29, 1933, and she was the first child of Mr. Samuel Ayodele Soyinka, and trader-homemaker, Mrs. Grace Eniola Soyinka (neé Harrison) seven children at Ake Vicarage, Abeokuta.

She grew up alongside with her two immediate younger brothers, Wole and Femi.
