Youth staged a peaceful protest in the city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Monday, over the soaring price of food items and insecurity in the country.
The residents of Ibadan urged President Bola Tinubu to tackle the issue’s of insecurity and hunger in the nation.
The protesters, lamented that they are tired with the current situation in Nigeria and are requesting for effective action from the government.
They held placards with various inscriptions such as “Tinubu Must see to the Insecurity” and “Hunger is Killing Us.”
The protesters expressed their grievance over the high cost of living, which the youth is not pleased with, and are also finding it difficult to afford essential commodities.
The protest follows the raising insecurity, kidnapping, banditry across the country.
The protesters said, the cost of things have also increased rapidly, making it difficult for many citizens to afford their common needs.
The protesters hope that this will call the attention of the president and the government to address the current issues in Nigeria. They further called on the government to do something to suppress the suffering of the people and to improve the country’s economy.
The protest has been peaceful so far, however, there are tension that it may turn to violent if the government refused to respond to their demands.
