Lagos Govt proposes completion date for Abiola-Onijemo Link road

The people of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojodu Local Government Area will have their road with bridge project completed by the end of May 2024, specifically during the second quarter of 2024, as promised by the Lagos State Government.

The initiative, as per the state government, was a step towards enhancing connectivity and consolidating the transportation pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, under the administration led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The permanent secretary of the Office of Infrastructure, engineer Ayodele Somide, stated during a project inspection that the road and bridge project, which was started to avert flooding, enhance the local neighborhood environmental conditions, and provide a practical diversion from traffic congestion, has reached 63% completion.

He stated that, following completion, the project is projected to increase the interconnection of roads within the axis, despite the fact that he defined the road as a critical link from College Road through Ajayi Street, Ogba to Aruna/Obawole/Iju-Ishaga in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojodu local government area.

Somide reports that the contractors have finished the piers, pier caps, and abutment walls in addition to finishing the piling works, which included 28 piles plus 1 relief pile with the pile caps in place.

According to him; “With the final launch and installation of the precast beam/girders that was done today, the project is moving closer towards the completion of the road and bridge works.

“Overall, the project (Bridge and Road works) is currently at 63% completion and the contractor promised to deliver the project by the end of May 2024.”
