BREAKING:  Federal high Court denies Nnamdi Kanu bail

On Tuesday, the Abuja Federal High Court declined the bail application by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra.

Justice Binta Nyako, the trial judge, nevertheless, granted a quickened hearing instead.

Alloy Ejimakor, Counsel for the IPOB leader, who had at  last adjourned the date, as he adviced the court to grant Nnamdi Kanu  bail before the commencement of the trial.

Alloy reveal that Kanu’s health condition was getting worse, he added that his continued detention by the DSS was a threat to his life.

He further assertained that the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu would not enable him to put up a good defence in the matter.

However, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) the counsel for the Federal government commanded the court to dismiss the bail application or better still grant a quick hearing.

Awomolo stated that the DSS has a medical facility that could take care of him.

He also prosecuted Nnamdi Kanu for  trying to avoid bail, adding that he failed to declare on oath in the affidavit filed by his lawyer that if granted bail, he wouldn’t jump bail.

On April 25, 2017, He was  granted bail on health grounds after spending 18 months in detention but he fled the country after an invasion of his residence by the military in September 2017.
