Ogun Customs Service partners Police, Monarch in the fight against smuggling

In his fight against smugglers and those undermining the country’s economy, Bisi Alade, the Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service for Ogun Area II, has solicited the backing of the state’s traditional leaders.

In addition, Alade has praised the Nigeria Police as a trustworthy ally that consistently works with Nigeria Customs to combat crime in the nation.

Therefore, he begged Abiodun Alamutu, the state commissioner of police, to support continuing the pace of cooperative efforts that may constantly serve to build the nation’s security architecture.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the head of customs interacted with Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the monarch of Egbaland’s Alake and Paramount, and Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police for Ogun State, during his separate trips.

While speaking during his visit to the traditional ruler, Alade said, “The Nigeria Customs recognises the importance of our royal fathers. They are the closest to the people and quite instrumental to ensuring peace and security across the state.

“Our visit here is to seek the support of our royal fathers in our renewed commitment to do our jobs as outlined by the law. We certainly need the co-operation of the traditional rulers, and we hope that the synergy that has long been created will be sustained for the betterment and prosperity of our nation.”

In response, Oba Gbadebo stated that other traditional leaders in the state will always be prepared to assist any government agency that has been given the constitutional authority to play a significant part in advancing the socioeconomic development of the nation.

Alamutu, the state commissioner of police, also assured the new head of Customs of the police command’s support, stating that the Controller may always rely on the two security agencies’ long-standing collaboration to eradicate any unlawful activities from the state.
