US lawmaker laudes nigerian rotary scholar

Muritala Ayinla, a Nigerian-born University of Central Missouri student, is the latest Rotary International Scholarship recipient to be welcomed by members of the Missouri State General Assembly in the United States.

They did this while reiterating their dedication to the education of their respective areas.

In a statement released on Monday, the congressmen highlighted how much they valued the favorable perception of the United States that Ayinla and other young people with aspirations had after visiting the nation.

Speaking as he welcomed Ayinla to the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri’s 31st Senatorial District’s senator Rick Brattin expressed his happiness with Ayinla’s favorable opinion of the US.

“I feel immensely proud of you and I’m excited to learn of your positive perceptions of the United States,” Senator Brattin remarked.

He emphasized the legislature’s dedication to advancing US democracy via its legislative powers and declared that lawmakers in Missouri State will keep up this commitment.

In the Missouri House of Representatives, Representative Dan Houx, who represents Johnson County District 54, commended Rotary International and the University of Central Missouri for their efforts to award scholarships to students whose homes are outside of the country.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to former Missouri Senator and Executive Director for Governmental Relations David Pearce for his noteworthy contributions to the legislative branch when he was in office.

Brenda Shields, the chairman of the Missouri House of Representatives’ Higher Education Committee, reaffirmed Missouri’s commitment to providing the greatest educational options for every child in the state.

She praised the educational innovations made by the University of Central Missouri. Ayinla was greeted to the Capitol by Representatives Kemp Strickler of Jackson County’s District 34 and Kelvin Windham of St. Louis County’s District 74, who both highlighted the legislature’s initiatives to improve educational opportunities for all.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem solvers, according to information on its website. Its members “see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
