On Monday, Gbolahan Oyedemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos State, allegedly committed himself in his residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Oyedemi served as the late former state governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s Aide de Camp during his 11-month stint as acting governor in 2006, according to The PUNCH.

On Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital, as reported by PUNCH, its correspondent was informed over the phone by a family-friendly source that Oyedemi, who typically spent Easter weekend celebrations in his birthplace, instructed his assistants to head to their respective towns to join their relatives.

The source said, “Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations.

“This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their family members in their various homes. Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide.”

Since Adewale Osifeso, the state police public relations officer, could not be reached on his mobile phone, all attempts to get a response from him were futile.
