Osun rainstorm: One dead, 600 people displaced – NEMA

In the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, One person has been confirmed dead,  and over 600 people displaced following a rainstorm that occured in the Iloko community.

It was earlier reported that residents and traders of Iloko-Ijesa in the state lost properties worth millions of naira to a heavy rainfall that caused havoc in the town and also destroyed homes of residents.

On Wednesday a report was given on the assessment of the damage by the National Emergency Management Agency, in a statement posted on its X platform “NEMA Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.

“The team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly received by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.

“The Oba and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.

“The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 displaced.”
