Osaivbie Izedonmwen, a nine year old boy, has vowed to read 200 books in 2024.
From the news gathered, Osaivbie and his brother, Oghosa,12 year old boy said they both believed gadgets and laptops were taking away the love of reading amongst their friends.
It revealed that he started the challenge in January, where he had been reviewing the books, he had read via his Instagram page, titled, ‘Read with us.’
“The nine-year-old has now taken the ‘Read with us’ challenge a step further by organising a book and toy donation drive.”
It added, “On Easter Sunday, supported by his older brother, Osaivbie went to their cousin’s church and donated over 100 books to kids and encouraged them to invest more time in reading. This is a drive he hopes to continue yearly.”
Currently in Grade four, Osaivbie said he started reading at the age of three and believed everyone should read and enjoy the same pleasure he derived from it.
“I really like reading. It’s exciting. It’s like watching a movie in your head, but your imagination is limitless,” he said.
He hopes to get more donations and be able to keep donating to children who can’t afford to buy these books.
