Pakistan truck Crash: 17 killed, 41 injured

Following the truck crash in Pakistan, about 17 religious pilgrims lost their lives and 41 injured in the crash, as they travelled to a shrine in southwestern Pakistan.

It was gathered that the accident happened about 10pm on Wednesday, in the Hub district of Balochistan province, district, Munir Ahmed, the deputy commissioner told the AFP after confirming the number of the dead and injured victims.

“The truck was overspeeding and it went out of the driver’s control while negotiating a turn” and fell into a ravine as they approached the shrine, he said.

Moreso,17 people have been confirmed dead by the deputy medical superintendent of Hub’s main hospital,  Shaukat Jalbani, while most of the injured persons  had been sent to a nearby Karachi city for treatment.

Road accidents with high rates of death are common in Pakistan where safety measures are mostly unavailable, driver training is poor and transport infrastructure often dilapidated

Previous years ago, about 41 people were killed with their passenger bus, which was also loaded with containers of flammable oil, plunged into a ravine in Balochistan province and burst into flames.
