Tinubu celebrates Afenifere chieftain Adebanjo @ 96

On Wednesday, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, an Afenifere chieftain and 96-year-old statesman, received admiration from President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu, through his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on Wednesday in which he expressed his gratitude to Chief Adebanjo for his decades of fervent advocacy for a united and equitable Nigeria, as well as for his contributions to enhancing the national debate.

“President Tinubu wishes Pa Adebanjo a happy birthday and prays to God Almighty to grant him many more years in excellent health,” Ngelale said in a statement titled, ‘President Tinubu greets Chief Ayo Adebanjo on birthday.’

Adebanjo, who was born on April 10, 1928, in Ijebu Ogbo, often known as “Small London,” completed his elementary schooling on Lagos Island from 1934 to 1943.

When the political organization Action Group was founded in 1951, he became a member of an Area Council.

After completing his legal education in the UK, he was admitted to the bar in June 1961.

After that, he went back to Nigeria to work as a professional tutor at Awolowo Chambers.

Adebanjo worked as a journalist for the Daily Service (later Daily Express) newspaper before being named the Action Group, Remo Division’s organizing secretary.
