Ighodalo calls for unity amongst members of Edo PDP

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Edo State, praised party officials and stakeholders on Monday for their candid suggestions regarding how to address internal party conflicts in advance of the state election on September 21.

At a meeting with party leaders from Akoko Edo in Benin, Ighodalo made this statement and asked them to keep going until all internal party conflicts were totally handled, stressing that the PDP was still the only party capable of saving the country.

Ighodalo said, “I commended the party leaders for the honest analytical report and suggestions on ways and means of resolving the party’s internal issues.

“I call on the leaders not to rest on their laurels as we have capable members with the right vision, focus and patriotic zeal to reposition Nigeria.

“The PDP remains the only party since 1999 that is still standing, while other parties have since either collapsed, fragmented or become an amalgamation of strange, odd and unhealthy bedfellows. A contraption of complicated forced union.”

Ighodalo emphasized that in order to fight the All Progressives Congress, which he claimed to be Nigeria’s development enemy, the party must unite and plan.

He said that the PDP is far ahead of other parties based on verifiable statistics and that “the party’s campaign structure for the governorship, would soon be unveiled.”

In the party’s campaign organization, he demanded that all interest groups be fairly represented, including women, young people, and even the “Obedient” Movement.

During the group’s introductory speech, Olu Fashanu, the group leader, praised Governor Godwin Obaseki for appointing Marvellous Omobayo, a resident of the local government area, as the state’s new deputy governor.

According to Fashanu, the intellectual leaders came together to constructively engage and communicate with Ighodalo in order to guarantee the party’s complete electoral triumph. He also mentioned that the party possesses a strong political organization and a willing and sympathetic electorate in the region.

“These goodwill and opportunities necessitate the need to proactively build and develop strong campaign teams with experienced political leadership at ward levels in Akoko-Edo and beyond. This will neutralise voters’ intimidation being orchestrated by the so-called ‘Federal Might’.” he added.
