Rainstorm destroys transmission line in Gombe leaving communities in darkness

The 330 kV line owned by the Transmission Company of Nigeria collapsed, according to the management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc, which caused the present outage in Gombe State on Monday.

According to our source, the state has experienced a blackout for around ten hours.

The company’s head of corporate communications, Dr. Friday Adakole, said in a statement that strong winds and rainstorms contributed to the 330 kV tower’s collapse.

In the vicinity of Shingen Abba Area of Tirwun Village in the Bauchi Local Government Area, the 330 kV tower, number 290, fell.

Adakole’s statement partly read, “The unfortunate incident has affected the entire Gombe State including Ashaka Cement Plant.

“TCN is already working assiduously towards reconstructing the collapsed tower in order to restore normal supply to the good people of Gombe state.”

In addition to asking customers to be patient, the statement said that electricity would be restored as soon as engineers finished their repairs.

“Customers are therefore requested to kindly bear with the company as the management is endeavouring to solve the problem.

“Power would be restored as soon as the problem is resolved,” the statement added.
