Three hoodlums rape pregnant woman in husband’s presence in Kwara

Three suspected hoodlums have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for allegedly raping a seven-months pregnant woman in her husband’s presence in Woro village, in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Ayeni Olasunkanmi, the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC confirmed the incident, he said one of the suspects, Lawal, was arrested while trying to sell some items stolen from the home of the couple.

The three suspects named: Lawal Ibrahim, 25; Mohammed Issa, 19; and Ibrahim Ahmed, 20; were also alleged to have robbed a couple and carted away their goods on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022 at Woro Village.

NSCDC command said “A case of rape and robbery was reported on the 5th July at the NSCDC Woro outpost. The crime was reported to have happened at Woro Village in Kaiama Local government area, Kwara state at about 2:00hrs.

“The victims; a seven months pregnant woman and her husband were allegedly attacked by the suspects in their house at Woro. The 7 months pregnant woman was allegedly raped and some items were carted away by the assailants.

“Upon getting the report, the state Acting Commandant, DCC Jonah Gabriel, gave order that the perpetrators be fished out.

“However, luck ran out on the suspects as one of them, Lawal Ibrahim, was arrested by our men while he was trying to dispose of the stolen items.

“The apprehended suspect, Ibrahim, gave some confessional statements which eventually led to the arrest of the other two suspects.

The three suspects have been arraigned before Area court in Kaiama so as to keep them in lawful detention while the Judge, Mr Usman Lukman, has ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Federal correctional Centre, New Bussa, till 27th of July 2022, Olasunkanmi said.
