Buhari Laments: I Am Eager To Go, It’s Been Tough

President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), lamented on Monday, that he is “eager to go” saying that presidency has been “tough” for the past seven years.

Buhari was elected as Nigerian President in 2015 and is expected to complete his tenure by 2023.

President Buhari travelled to his home town on Friday, ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. On Monday he received some governors, of the All Progressives Congress APC, legislation and political leaders at his residence in Daura.

According to the statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu, he said “By this time next year, I would have made the most out of the two terms, and in the remaining months I will do my best.

The president told his guests that, he had not been to his house in Daura for close to a year due to the demands of the office.

“I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough. I am grateful to God that people appreciate the personal sacrifices we have been making. I wish the person who is coming after me the very best,” he said.

He noted that he would retire to Daura in ten to eleven months-time, and not in Kaduna where he has a better house.

Wakadaily gathered that Buhari has earlier called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to consider the plight of the future generations of the country as the strike stretches into the fifth month.

He said “We hope that ASUU will sympathise with the people on the prolonged strike. Truly, enough is enough for keeping students at home. Don’t hurt the next generation for goodness sake.”
