NYSC DG tasks corp members with fostering harmony in host communities

Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has encouraged Corps members to act as role models and foster unity wherever they are stationed.

Ahmed made this remark at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko Local Government Area, Sokoto State, during the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for corps members in the 2024 Batch A Stream 2.

Under the leadership of Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro, the NYSC Coordinator for Sokoto State, the Director-General emphasized the value of maintaining a clean record and abstaining from illicit activity.

“I admonish you to uphold the values of patriotism, diligence, and perseverance, which are essential qualities for nation-building,” he stated, emphasizing the need for corps members to represent not only their families but also the NYSC positively.”

General Ahmed cautioned the Corps Members against traveling at night as well, advising them to stop traveling wherever they are by 6:00 PM and find certified safe havens to spend the night in.

Additionally, he pushed them to consistently attend their primary tasks and to keep up with the post-camp training of the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

Respecting the customs and culture of the people in their host communities was the DG’s advice to them.

Giving out posting letters to the Corps Members who made it through was the highlight of the event.
