The second day of the Federal Executive Council’s meeting, which started on Monday, March 13, has begun under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
In the Council Chamber of the State House, the meeting started at a little after 12:00 noon on Tuesday.
Seated among the council members are the President, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
Wakadaily gathered that on Monday, the council took a look at a minimum of thirty-two memoranda. To enable the disclosure of additional “far-reaching” conclusions later today, the meeting was postponed until Tuesday.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, declared the adjournment by saying, “Today’s council meeting is not yet concluded. The council meeting will continue tomorrow.
“Therefore, there’ll be no press briefing today. A lot of far-reaching decisions are being taken and the conclusions will be made available to you tomorrow.”
The Presidency revealed that one of the decisions made on Monday was to require all government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to purchase solely compressed natural gas-powered cars and generators going ahead.
The Federal Government also anticipates that its MDAs will start converting all generators and cars with gasoline or diesel engines to compressed natural gas (CNG).
According to a statement signed by Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity on Monday, the new instruction is “in line with his commitment to ensure energy security, drive utility, and cut high fuel costs”.
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, a Marine and Blue Economy organization, and the Nigeria Customs Service have made new requests that are impacted by Monday’s order.
They were seeking permission to purchase several hundred gasoline-powered operable vehicles. Additionally, the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s request to purchase gasoline-powered generators was granted, albeit with the need that the contracts be examined in relation to CNG or solar-powered generators.
According to Ngelale, Tinubu instructed Council members to “go back and diligently seek value-driven procurements of CNG-compliant vehicles” in order to purchase conventional cars that run on gasoline.
Speaking to the Federal Executive Council on Monday at the State House, President Tinubu reiterated, “If we keep dancing on the same spot, this nation will not advance.”
President Tinubu declared, “This nation will not progress forward if we continue to dance on the same spot,” while speaking to members of the Federal Executive Council on Monday at the State House.
“We have the will to drive the implementation of CNG adoption across the country, and we must set the example as public officials in leading the way to that prosperous future that we are working to achieve for our people.
“It starts with us, and in seeing that we are serious, Nigerians will follow our lead.”
