Cross River to overhaul 1,000 schools, says gov Otu

Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River, has declared that his administration is committed to revolutionising the state’s educational infrastructure, with plans to overhaul at least 1,000 schools across the state.

Also, he said that his administration has secured funding for a groundbreaking railway project that will connect the southern and northern regions of the state.

Otu revealed this during the State Executive Council meeting in Calabar on Friday.

The governor explained that the railway line would link Bakassi Local Government Area in the southern part of the state with Ogoja, Obudu, and Bakwarra Local Government Areas in the northern district.

He stressed that the project would significantly enhance the transportation of agricultural products, which are abundant across the state.

This railway line will not only improve connectivity within the state but also serve as a vital link for the easy movement of our agricultural produce, boosting trade and economic growth.

In addition to the railway project, our administration is committed to revolutionising the state’s educational infrastructure.

We will overhaul at least 1,000 schools across Cross River, focusing on both primary and secondary education.

“My expectation is a complete transformation of our schools, from the construction and renovation of classroom blocks to furnishing.

“This will ultimately improve the quality of education and outcomes for our students,” the governor said.
