Osun reduces workdays for workers, extends palliatives

In order to lessen the cost of transportation. Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor has approved to re-sheduled the number of days public servants are required to work per week.

The governor also extended the payment for public servants for the next two months

Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson in a statement issued on Tuesday, said that the approval was outlined in a circular from the Office of the Head of Service.

The statement noted that this decision aligns with Adeleke’s commitment to the well-being of workers and is a response to the current economic situation in the country.

The statement read, “By this circular, therefore, and until another directive is given, the working day schedules for public servants in the state have been approved as follows:

“Public servants on GL.01 to GL.10 – three days a week; public servants on GL.12 to GL.17 – four days a week.”

The circular further noted that these arrangements exclude those on essential duties, such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers.

“It is also important to note that the arrangement regarding which days each public servant in the above categories will work shall be organised by the accounting officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government.”

The statement added, “The governor has also graciously approved the continuation of palliative payments to public servants in the state for the next two months, pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.

“All accounting officers of Ministries, Departments, and government agencies, including Local Governments, have been directed to comply.”
