Abiodun hails Ogun cleric elevation as archbishop

Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State Governor has congratulated Bishop Taiwo Akinola, on his investiture into the office of charismatic Archbishop.

He described the spiritual attainment as a testament to the cleric’s remarkable journey of faith, spiritual leadership and unwavering dedication to the service of the Lord.

The investiture ceremony held at Champion Peace Cathedral, Rhema Christian Church and Towers in the Sango Otta area of the state, on Sunday, witnessed the presence of a host of clerics, families and well-wishers.

Abiodun, in a statement on Sunday, said the new archbishop’s commitment to the Christian faith and devotion to spreading the gospel has a profound impact not only within Ogun State but across Nigeria.

The statement read, “As Bishop, you have touched countless lives through your teachings, compassionate guidance and dynamic leadership.

“This new role as Charismatic Archbishop further reflects the grace and divine wisdom with which you have led your flock.

“It is an indication that your dedication to upholding Christian values and promoting charitable initiatives has not gone unnoticed.

Your Eminence’s remarkable journey is marked by a rare combination of humility, resilience and unrelenting drive to uplift souls.

You have consistently served as a beacon of hope and light, inspiring generations to embrace love, faith and selfless service.

“In an era where society looks up to the churches for moral direction, your leadership has been a guiding force, empowering congregations to live with integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to godly principles.”

During his archbishopric oath, Akinola promised to carry himself with dignity, honour, integrity and decorum and to maintain high ethical standards.

He said, “From this hour henceforward, I will be totally obedient to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, proclaiming His glory everywhere, every time and in every way, all the days of my life.

“I will also rev up my work and schedules in such a manner as to ensure that this divine assignment shall continue to generate impacts on the souls of men and women, till the end of time. I shall carefully exercise responsibility for the salvation of the souls which are entrusted to me.”

In his sermon titled “Receiving much and giving more,” Archbishop Joseph Ojo said Akinola’s new attainment was not a matter of title but a matter of responsibility.
