Our number one problem in Africa is Greed

Almost every one of us, if we find ourselves in a position of power and wealth, will steal to stupor.

Depending on how you want to look at history, in truth how did Kwame Nkhuruma handle Ghana after the independence? The economy of Ghana at the time was like that of Spain or South Korea, how is Ghana today?

Read about Jean-Bedel Bokassa of Central Africa republic what he did to his rich country and how he plundered the country, how he became like a god and did a massive coronation as emperor. He even went to the extent of beating up children to death. The Central Africa Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world. Our missionaries are working there. It is pathetic.

Read also about Gnassingbe Eyadema of Togo and see how power and greed can control people.

Kamuzu Banda of Malawi fought for independence from Britain, after he took over as the president of Malawi for many years, Malawians had to fight for their own independence from him.

Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe never wanted to relinquish power until death.

What about Museveni of Uganda and Paul Biya of Cameroon who are still alive today?

What about Nguema Francisco of Guinea or Omar Bongo of Gabon who owned houses around the world and millions of dollars from the country diverted to his? Or Sani Abacha of Nigeria? How much did Sani Abacha steal? Over 4.3 Billion dollars. The money is still being constantly returned to the Nigerian government and interestingly, it is re-looted. What about Mobutu Sese Seko of the Democratic Republic of Congo who made off with 5 Billion Dollars from the central bank?

In present-day Nigeria, what about Tinubu? You don’t want us to talk about him right? You don’t want us to analyze the source of his wealth? His Bullion van? Okay, what about Rochas or the one from Orba that handed a whole state into the hands of god(s) and still came down to earth to bribe delegates to give him a ticket to the senate?

When we are ready for the conversation, wake me up. For now, let us go back to mourn Mama Charly, AKA Sister Eliza.

Picture of Bokassa during his coronation as emperor. A celebration that went on for two days and cost 25 million dollars. In this picture, he is sitting on an eagle-shaped solid gold throne.
