LASTMA summons officials driving against traffic

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA, has summoned its officials who were seen in a video driving against traffic, an act also known as ‘one-way’.

This is barely 24 hours after the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, Shola Jejeloye, said driving against traffic (One-way) to attempted murder, adding that there are several dangers inherent in driving against traffic (one-way) and harmful effects it has on not just free flow of traffic and other law-abiding drivers, but on the possibilities of causing loss of lives and damage to property.”

In a video making round the media, which was posted by @OmoGbajaBiamila, he wrote “Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, your darling LASTMA officials who in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, recently auctioned off people’s vehicles for driving one-way against traffic. When dem go auction this truck?”

Reacting to the viral video the Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin wrote, “Citizen arrest + invective = good job; Police arrest + invective = harassment, unprofessionalism. Double standards, I guess. While we commence investigation into this, please call out @followlastma.”

Hundeyin said, “I have contacted LASTMA authorities and the head of the Police unit with LASTMA.

“I can confirm that internal investigation has begun. This will not be swept under the carpet. We appreciate citizen reportage.

“I just got confirmation that the entire team has been identified and summoned to @followlastma headquarters. Updates will follow.”
