Two weeks ago, two student of the Federal University Wukari who were kidnapped has regained their freedoom.
This was revealed by the Head, Information and Protocol Unit of the institution, Mrs Ashu Agbu, in a WhatsApp message sent to the newsmen on Friday.
“The two students of the Federal University Wukari who were kidnapped regained their freedom last night after spending days in the hands of their abductors,’ she said.
Meanwhile, details on how the students were released was not provided.
Weeks ago the kidnappers demanded for N50million ransom.
It was said that the two students were abducted on Wednesday, April 3 at about 10:pm at a shop close to the school.
The students, Joshua Sardauna from the Economics Department and Obianu Elizabeth of the Microbiology Department returned to the school to re-sit their examinations as a result of the carry-over they had last session when the incident happened.
Wakadaily learnt that the gunmen were suspected to be herdsmen invaded the Federal University Wukari in Taraba State and abducted two students on Monday, April 3, 2024.
Mr Sule Gani, the Chief Security Officer of the university confirmed the incident over an interview call with journalists in Jalingo.
The CSO, stated that the students of the school, a male and a female who came to write their carry-over papers were abducted by the gunmen, as he described them as armed Fulani herdsmen.
As claimed by him, these herdsmen invaded the school and kidnapped the two students who were eating at a food vendor shop on campus.
