The abductors of the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Nasarawa State, Lawal Yakubu, have demanded N100 million ransom.

Wakadaily earlier report that, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the kidnap of the commissioner in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday.

The PPRO said, “On Monday, August 15 at about 8:45 p.m, the attention of Policemen on routine patrol was drawn to the sound of sporadic gunshots in the Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of the state.”

However, a family of the victim on Tuesday evening told the Nation that the kidnappers had made their demand known.

According to a family source, “The kidnappers called one of us at about 4.30pm on Tuesday and said the only way they would release the commissioner was when we pay the sum of N100 million as ransom.

“We offered to pay N3.5million but they switched off their phone. Then we dialled the number again and it was no longer reachable.”
