The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants has honoured Taiwo Oyedele the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, and other members for their outstanding career performance, significant contributions to the accounting profession, and significant impact on society.
The recognition ceremony was held recently in Lagos.
In January 2024, ACCA Nigeria also launched the Secondary School Teachers’ Awards to recognise the pivotal role that Nigerian teachers play in fostering quality education.
According to the association, the awards seek to celebrate outstanding teachers who exemplify excellence and contribute to the character development of our future leaders.
It named the Best Teacher, Eastern Region, Ebenezer Nwogu of Charles Dale Memorial International School, Port Harcourt; Best Teacher, Western Region, Mr Babatunde Adebari of Rainbow College, Lagos; Best Teacher, Northern Region, Mr Johnson Aduvie of International School; Best Teacher, Accounts & Finance, Mr Kingsley Oduh of Regent Secondary School, Abuja; Most Innovative Teacher, Mr Omoniyi Oke-Job of Badore Community Senior Secondary School; and Overall Best Teacher, Mr Johnson Aduvie, International School, and all the winners went home with N 500,000 each.
Taiwo Oyedele, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, said, While receiving his award, “ACCA is a global professional body known for professionalism and integrity and for trying to build professionals that the world needs. So, being recognised for career advancement and success is very impressive.
“It is also a call to further duty; the reward for good work is to do more good work. I will also use this opportunity to encourage professionals to contribute their quota, particularly at this time for our country, so that we can move the nation forward to become a country we can all be proud of.”
He urged young professionals to improve on self-development every day rather than the previous day and not allow anything to hold them back.
Another recipient of the recognition award, the Senior Special Adviser to the President of the National Economic Council and Climate Change, Rukaiya EL-Rufai, noted, “I am deeply humbled and honoured.
“I have always sought to have a purposeful career that inspires others and to be recognised by such a global powerhouse and a meritorious organisation as ACCA, of course. I am much honoured, and I hope this inspires others to strive hard and make the very best out of their careers.”
ACCA’s Country Head, Mr Tom Isibor, said, “It is recognition of the contributions of our members to society, to the profession, and their personal growth, and we feel very proud of what they are achieving.
“And we believe that the way to spur them to more achievements is by recognizing what they have done and encouraging them to do more.”
Speaking earlier, the Chief Client Officer at AXA Mansard and Chair of ACCA’s Nigeria Advisory Committee, Rashidat Adebisi, stated, “Well done! This award is a testament to your excellence.
“Please continue to inspire and mentor others. I hope your success continues to grow and that you continue to reach for greatness. This association is yours; we want you to continue to contribute, engage, and be an advocate and an ambassador of ACCA.”
