Popular Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon is excited as he wins Silverbird Trailblazer award on Friday, March 3, 2023.
The 16th edition of the Silverbird awards held at the Convention Center, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos yesterday.
Sharing the news on his Instagram page, Deyemi expressed gratitude to Silverbird TV as well as the public for the award.
He wrote, “So I just received Trailblazer Award at the Silverbird Man of the award.
It’s been a long time coming. Thank you Silverbird. Thank you everyone”.
Deyemi Okanlawon who has been trending for the wrong reason said, “So this happened last night… Perfect way to end a perfect day! Remember, no matter what, the only response is to keep winning!”.
Also, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde won the Silverbird Man of the Year award.
Wakadaily report that Deyemi came under fire for an open letter he addressed to the Lagos House of Representatives-elect, Thaddeus Attah on Friday.
The actor made it known that he voted for Banky W as he believes he would have been the best candidate for the job.
However few hours later, Deyemi Okanlawon tendered an apology following heavy backlash.
Sharing a video on his Instagram page, he said: “In the early hours of today, and in the spirit of the season, I wrote an open letter addressed to the House of Representative-elect of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Mr. Thaddeus Attah. Now I admit, I could have chosen better words. I could have not allowed the frustrations that I’ve felt about these past few weeks affect the message that I was trying to pass across.
“And so I apologise to Mr Attah. I apologise to anybody else who must have felt that I was overreaching.”
