Nollywood actress Linda Osifo reveals she was constantly bullied for her skin color and thought of bleaching at some point.
She stated this while appearing as a guest on the ‘With Chude’ podcast, she spoke about her challenges moving back to Nigeria and her leap of faith.
She recall her very first visit to Lagos was to host a show which didn’t hold, noting that it was her first experience of the Lagos life experiences.
After spending money on her ticket she was left with a choice, to go back to Canada and resume her nine-to-five job as a psychologist, or remain in Lagos and explore her choices.
“We waited and waited till it got to a stage where I had to choose what next because my ticket had expired. So it’s like if I go back, I’m just going back to my psychology working my 9 to 5 or I stay here and don’t make my ticket money waste, since I’m already here, I can explore.”
She however decided to take the latter and explore the opportunity available in Lagos, with plans to return to Canada where she is a citizen if it didn’t not pen out.
Linda, went on to talk about her struggles with bullies while growing up because of her skin color, she noted that she was been bullied by people who had same skin color like her and it made it even more hurtful for her.
She said, “Yeah. It happens absolutely. And it happens from your shade too, you know. So, that’s why it’s even more of a weird thing. I always feel that those who get bullied, don’t get bullied by outsiders. It’s from within. Because if somebody else says it, you may not care but if somebody who is around you, who you are always kinda seeing every other day says it, it hurts more. I was a teenager so I tried to.”
Linda Osifo has successfully build a career in acting having so many movies like, Merry Men, Tanwa Savage and more in her credit.
