Some gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly invaded the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, in the early hours of today (Friday) and kidnapped significant number of students.

An eyewitness, Abubakar Sani said the bandits who were in large number, stormed the students off-campus residence in the village and kidnapped female students.

The gunmen terrorising the state invaded three female hostels, shooting sporadically before whisking the students away to an unknown destination.

He said: “Many of the kidnapped students were females, while other students were able to escape to the bush. When they arrived the village, they went straight to the students [off campuses] and started shooting sporadically.

“They later broke into the campuses and brought a number of students who are mostly females”.

All efforts made by WAKADAILY to reach the university authority and the state police command proved abortive.
