Nigerian singer, known as Bella Shmurda, has been challenged by netizens following his revelation in an interview that he has stopped smoking.
The Leader of “Dangbana republic” in the latest episode of ‘In My Opinion’ podcast, said four years ago he had stopped smoking, because of anxiety. According to him, he was getting scared of the future. However, he still takes cigarettes and liquor.
The Afrobeat singer claimed that contrary to reports that smoking of weed boosts creativity, it never helped his creativity as it was affecting him in the studio and he was becoming lost.
“I don’t smoke Igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future.
“So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor. It wasn’t helping the creativity in my case”.
“Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”
His comment section was flooded as many tackled him questioning the difference between weed and cigarettes.

Reality TV star and Bigbrothee Naija housemate, Soma, in a recent development has come on social media to cry out on how to help him quit smoking.
Soma expressed his willingness to quit while he further revealed how difficult the habit was. He went on to ask past smokers who quit how they had been able to successfully quit.

In addition, Afrobeat singer, Burna Boy revealed he turned down a $5 million deal to perform in the United Arab Emirates, UAE because he wouldn’t be allowed to smoke weed over there.
He mentioned how the Emirate law had prohibited smoking in parks, beaches, and all public recreational areas in Dubai, he also made it known that he can’t go to any place where he would be restricted from smoking.
