Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez, had explained how he came up with his stage name during a conversation with influencer and podcaster, Temisan on his Tea With Tay podcast where he spoke about his music.
According to the rapper who made the clarification that he stole his stage name when asked about the origin. the ‘Back in Uni‘ crooner, however, said he got his friend’s consent before using the name officially.
Blaqbonez said: “I stole it, it was my friend’s name. His name was Blaqbonez and he wasn’t it using it for anything. The guy just likes rap so he gave himself a rap name, he wasn’t even rapping, he wasn’t doing anything.
“So one day I just said ‘bro, you no dey use this name and I like am’ and that’s how I started bearing Blaqbonez. I was in school then.”
