Blind man defiles 13-year-old girl in Lagos

Francis Ugachukwu, a visually impaired man, is to cool his heels in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court in Lagos, remanded the man, pending hearing and filing of his bail application.

Francis Ugachukwu was arraigned on one count charge of defilement.

Abimbola Abolade, the state protection counsel,  told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in November 2022, at No. 16 Kareem Giwa Street, Abule-Osun, Ojoo, Lagos State.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

 However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court adjourned the case until October 18 for a hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial.
