BREAKING: Senators stage walkout, demand Buhari’s impeachment over silence on insecurity

The Poeples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator on Wednesday staged a walkout from chambers following a call to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over silence on insecurity.

The Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Phillip Aduda, had raised a point of order asking the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, to discuss the security situation in the country and the impeachment of President Buhari. But Senator Lawan, declined the request of the minority leader, saying the point of order raised fell flat on its face.

Aduda who represents the Federal Capital Territory in the upper legislative Chamber further said, “We went into a closed-door session on the state of insecurity in Abuja and took cognisance that Nigeria is no longer safe.

“We agreed in the closed session that we will give President Muhammadu Buhari an ultimatum, but the Senate President Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan didn’t want us to raise the issue. However, we have issued six weeks for President Buhari to resolve insecurity or be impeached.”
