A former Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs, Lima Kantigi, has emerged winner of the People Democratic Party governorship primary in Niger State.
This was made known when the Chairman of the State electoral panel and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, announced the results in Minna on Thursday.
Ewhrudjakpo said the total number of accredited delegates for the primary election was 808, Kantigi who emerged winner polled 667 votes while his closest rival, Sani Kutigi scored 114 votes.
Other aspirants in the primary election Included Isah Jankara who got 21 votes, Gimba Abdulrahaman who got 3 votes and Sidi Abdul got zero vote. Ewhrudjakpo also said the number of invalid votes were three out of the 808 votes cast.
The electoral panel Chairman commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and members of the party for ensuring the success of the exercise.
one of the aspirants said, “he is satisfied with the conduct of the election and he will merge with the winner to work towards the success of the PDP at the general elections.”
