Charly Boy drags Wole Soyinka, compares him to late Chinua Achebe

Nigerian legendary singer, Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy or Area Fada has dragged renowned play wright, Wole Soyinka over his recent comment about ‘Obidients’ movement.

The Nobel laureate earlier criticized the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmend and the ‘Obidients’ describing the movement as one of the most repulsive.

Soyinka, in a statement titled “Fascism on Course,” released on Friday, is challenging the LP’s vice-presidential candidate to a debate as regards his claims of Nigeria’s democracy ending if the President-elect, Asiwasju Bola Tinubu, is sworn in May 29.

Charly Boy via his Instagram page on Saturday said he has lost the respect he has for Soyinka, adding that he can never be the man Chinua Achebe was.

The Area Fada said, “The kin respect I had for this ma, was almost the kind of respect I had for the late Justice C.A. Oputa, The Socrates of the Supreme Court. It has finally dawned on me that Soyinka can never be the man Chinua Achebe was.

Look at a man many Nigerians put on such a high pedestal reducing himself to a boyiboyi for criminal politicians. What a fucking big shame”.
