CP Babaita invites NUJ chairman, assures him of robust partnership with 4th realm of estate

The Gombe State Commissioner of Police (CP), Babatunde Babaita, on Thursday invited the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and assured him of robust partnership with 4th realm of estate.

This was disclosed by ASP MAHID MU’AZU ABUBAKAR, Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Command, via its Twitter page, The statement titled ‘ENHANCING POLICE MEDIA RELATIONS IN GOMBE STATE’.

He said, “Today being 1/9/2022 the Commissioner of Police CP Ishola Babatunde Babaita, Psc FDMSS, invites the NUJ chairman following the unfortunate incident leading to the recent attack on journalists by yet to be ascertained persons suspected to be political thugs.

“The CP stated that as soon as the matter was brought to his knowledge, he immediately ordered for the release of the affected journalists and directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The CP further maintained that the Command is enjoying a rubost partnership with the 4th realm of estate and assured the journalists that the Command under his watch will continue to sustain such partnership in accordance with international best practices and respect for Human Rights.

“It would be recalled that on the 30th August, 2022 two journalists were allegedly assaulted by suspected thugs and rescued by the police after which they were subsequently released unconditionally,” he added.
