Nigerian entrepreneur, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, who is better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has appeared in court for his arraignment.
Earlier, wakadaily had reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged the businessman with the misuse of Nigerian currency.
According to Channel Television, the EFCC has accused him of spraying and tampering with the naira at a social gathering, which is in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
As an update, Cubana Chief Priest is currently in front of Justice Kehinde Ogundare at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Cubana has entered a plea of innocence regarding the accusations of misusing naira currency. During his court appearance this morning, his lawyer, Chukwusolo Onukwi, objected to the charges brought against him by the EFCC. Additionally, he has submitted a request for bail.
Popular crossdresser, Bobrisky, was arrested by the EFCC two weeks ago for misusing the Naira. He admitted his guilt and begged the judge for leniency, promising to utilize his influence to educate his followers on the proper way to handle money.
However, the judge did not pardon his misconduct. Consequently, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in jail without the possibility of paying a fine for his Naira abuse.
In 2022, Cubana Chief Priest was apprehended by the EFCC for charges related to money laundering and tax evasion.He was held in custody for several days, including his birthday.
However, he was released on April 4th, 2022, which brought joy to his fans, followers, friends, colleagues, and admirers.
Soso Soberekon, his colleague, announced his freedom on Instagram, praising him for being trustworthy and reliable. Davido, among other celebrities, celebrated his release and referred to him as his closest friend.
Cubana’s arrest occurred after his associate and longtime friend, Obinna Iyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, was arrested by the EFCC for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
