Early Life & Education
Dababy was born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States on December 22, 1991. He spent most of his early years in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dababy graduated in 2010 from Julius L. Chambers High School and proceeded to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, although he later dropped out of the University, he proclaimed that he only went to college because of his parents.
Career
Dababy developed his passion for musical influences from the likes of Lil Wayne, Eminem, and 50Cent.
He came through professionally in 2015 with the release of his first mixtape, Nonfiction. He followed up with the release of God’s Work mixtape series, Baby Talk mixtape series, Billion Dollar Baby, and Back on My Baby Jesus Sh*t. He was previously known by the name Baby Jesus before he changed due to distraction.
He came to the limelight after signing with Arnold Taylor, the president of the South Coast Music Group label and through this deal, Dababy signed a short-lived distribution deal with Jaz-Z’s Roc Nation for his Blank Blank mixtape which gave him exposure in the music industry.
After being signed to Interscope, he launched his label, Billion Dollar Baby, in January 2019. He released his debut studio album, Baby on Baby, via Interscope records, on March 1, 2019. The album is comprised of 13 tracks with guest appearances from Rich Homie Quan, Offset, Rich the Kid, and Stunna 4 Vegas.
He released his second studio album, Kirk, in September 2019 and also follow up with his third studio album titled “Blame It on Baby” in 2020.
